Penalty – a new series on relationships

November 3, 2010

Relationships are a lot like football.  It takes everyone giving 100% to make it work.  There is a synergy to things when it works and hard to look at when it doesn’t and at times it can be violent.

We are going to take 3 weeks to look at some of the football penalties as a springboard to discuss friendships and the friendship blockers in our lives.

Week 1 – Face Mask = Struggling with hypocrisy

Week 2 – Holding = Struggling with unforgiveness

Week 3 – Block in the back = Struggling with gossip

See You At The Pole

September 9, 2010

Times for SYATP as best as we could find them are as follows…if your school is not listed we could not track down the time.

Berkeley High School – 8:00

Timberland High School – 8:15

Cain Bay High School – 8:10

SJCA – 7:30

Berkeley Middle School – 8:00

Macedonia Middle School – 7:25

Last year hundreds of students participated in See You At The Pole in the Moncks Corner area.  Students from Berkeley High, Berkeley Middle, St Johns, Macedonia Middle, Timberland High, Stratford High and Cain Bay all gathered around their schools flag pole and prayed for their country, their schools, their family and their friends.

This year to prepare our hearts Alive Youth Ministries is hosting a PRE SYATP PRAYER RALLY in the Triage area Tuesday September 21st at 6:30.  There we will worship, hear testimonies, a challenge and get together with other students from their schools to plan the next days events.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING A SYATP EVENT AT SCHOOL CONTACT YOUR INDIVIDUAL SCHOOL FOR DETAILS ON THE TIME AND LOCATION.  TYPICALLY IT IS 15 MIN BEFORE THE FIRST BELL AT THE FLAG POLE.

Pray as our teenagers take a stand and REVEAL who their God really is?

STUDENTS LEAVE A COMMENT AND TELL US HOW YOUR SYATP EVENT WAS?

Going Primal

August 31, 2010

Alive Youth Ministries is going to do a series loosely based off the book PRIMAL by Mark Batterson.  This month we will look at what the character of God looks like when it is boiled down to its rawest.  We will do so by looking at some characters in the old testament.  Hopefully it will be a fun journey to discover at it’s root what Christianity is all about.

Ecclesia/Starting Over

August 3, 2010

This new series for High School is a look at the church as Jesus set it up and how we are to “be” the church.  Each week there will be an action step to gently nudge you to becoming the radicals that Jesus deserve.  Don’t miss a service this August.

Week 1 – Share the Story

Week 2 – Help the poor

Week 3 – Care for the broken hearted

Week 4 – Feed the hungry

The Middle School team is erasing our perceptions of what the Church is and replacing it with what God’s word says it is.

Starting Over

week 1- You think: See the world like Jesus

week 2- You pray: Pray for the world like Jesus

week 3- You talk: Speak in the world like Jesus

week 4- You live: Live in the world like Jesus

Food Fight for Hunger

July 17, 2010

August 28th at 11:00 in the Pointe North/Bilo parking lot we will have the city’s largest food fight EVER!  Well I don’t really know that for sure because they don’t keep those kind of records however, it will be huge!  Dozens of gallons of colored mashed potatoes for a massive food fight.  The cost for entry is food for the food pantry.  The amount of food you donate will determine the amount of food you get as your arsenal.  There will also be food for sale and all proceeds going to the Community Impact food pantry.

CHAOS is COMING!

May 2, 2010

Summer Breakaway is our MAIN EVENT!  It is the one event that students talk about all year long.  Don’t be left out of the story.  This year we are talking CHAOS.  The services are going to be bolder, more relevant and more creative than ever before.  The band has some intense sets picked out and this year we are adding a customizable plan called PITS (Personal Interest Tracks).  You choose what YOU want to learn about.  Not to mention some other new events like the STRONG MAN COMPETITION, SAND CASTLE MANIA and STAR SEARCH!  We will wrap things up with live worship on the beach under the stars.  You will not want to miss it.  Register here before it is too late.
